Do you want to celebrate NYE 2011 in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico? I got a ridiculous deal lined up for you.

This luxury villa sleeps 23 guests and overlooks the Pacific Ocean and its white sand beaches.
The place is amazing! It includes a gourmet kitchen, living room, dining room game room, ten person hot tub and swimming pool.
All seven bedroom suites also feature spectacular views, as well as private, marbled bathrooms. Each of the ten total bedrooms has a TV with satellite reception, an i-Pod docking station, air-conditioning, and its own unique decor.
It also comes with a maid to cook breakfast and tidy up every day.

Cost approx $150 a night per person per night, based on 6 nights rental.

On Sunday Sept 13th in West Vancouver we were fortunate to have been part of a very prestigious event, brought to you by our friends at brand.LIVE . This was a private party at Sarah McLachlan's home where the 250 guests were treated to performances by Cheryl Crow, Blue Rodeo and of course the hostess herself.

Her home was decorated in a Moroccan theme and looked amazing to say the least. The guest list was a who's who of A-List players from L.A. to European Royalty.

Our staff of bartenders, servers and porters were exceptional and made us very proud. The way you do what you do is what make us what we are... the finest and most sought after bartending company in the lower mainland.

Hello all,

To say we've been having an extremely busy summer is an understatement. All of

Vancouver it seems, has had us make them a drink at one function or another. I'm proud to say that everyone we've been hired by has offered to write us a reference letter. We must be doing something right!

Coming up on Sept 12th & 13th 2009 is the Luxury Supercar Weekend at the Plaza of Nations hosted by Edgewater Casino . This will be the place for any and all people who just love amazing sports cars... period! Audi, Ferrari, Maserati, Porche, Lamborghini, Aston Martin etc.

You guys don't even know how amazing you truly are! We've had literally dozens of parties at our West vancouver home over the years and I can't forgive myself for not calling on you sooner.

The drinklist you supplied was bang on and the fresh ingredients are truly the only way to go... like you suggested I might add!

Also, Gord and I where beside ourselves when we didn't have to tell you or your staff where anything was or how to do your jobs (as if we know anyway..lol) . Again Liquid Assets and its gorgeous staff have the opportunity to serve you at another great event in Vancouver, and it's definitely the place to be this friday... the party to begin the

summer! Monster Energy Drink and Billabong will tear the roof off for what is expected to be a

huge turnout!

Starting with a fashion show at 9pm highlighting all their newest fashions.

Then at 1030pm a video premier called "Out Of The Pond", featuring all the best wake riders from around the globe.

After that the dancing and frolicking begins, and who knows how long we will giv'r! My guess is late into the evening.

Portable Bar a Big Hit

This is the newest addition to the Liquid Assets Family. Our new portable bar is available for a $50 fee. This is compared to the $85 plus tax you will pay from any rental company, and our looks way classier I might add. It features a built-in ice well collapsable sides and bottom, multiple shelves and easy-up function.

We put "Betsy" into service for the first time in Coquitlam at George and Jill's home, where we had unanimously received the best Caesar award for our take on this delicious cocktail.

George also shared in the glory with his secret ingredient, sprigs of fresh dill. Amazingly!

Unite With Art Event at OBAKKI in Gastown

Obakki graciously hosted the pre-party last night for the Unite with Art Gala Event being held at Storyeum on June 3rd 2009. Last night was a meet and greet the artist as well as a look at there art. The art itself is breathtaking to say the least. Click here to view the Live Auction Art and the Silent Auction Art.

The wonderfully big hearted Julie Lee and Paris Forrer have been the organizers of this event since 2008. At the Rocky Mountaineer Station last year they raised over $250,000 for AIDS awareness in Africa. Specifically for the cause and effect of mothers passing AIDS on to their children and leaving them orphaned. Dozens of artists from around the lower Mainland have donated there art and time to this cause.

Unite with Art, Obakki and Liquid Assets Support Unicef Thursday

Unite With Art will hold an event on Thursday May 21st 2009 at OBAKKI, located at 44 Water St. We will be there to support the children and mothers affected by HIV/AIDS, and in hopes to eradicate this horrible pandemic.

Then on June 3rd 2009 Liquid Assets will also be part of this years gala event, being held at the former Storyeum Museum located at 142 Water St. in the Gastown area of Vancouver.

Further events will be held in cities across Canada. Each event will showcase high profile regional and national artists in several mediums. The gala events will be comprised of a live and complimentary silent auction plus entertainment. Through the generous contribution of artists, galleries and volunteers, Unite with Art aims to donate 100 percent of the art proceeds to UNICEF. The event has been designed to bring awareness to this important initiative as well to celebrate the artistic skills and talents of the artists.

Home Made Drinks... Summer Style!

Mix your favorite spirits with seasonal herbs, fruits, and even vegetables for tasty, and beautiful, beverages. Use our combinations or create your own. Wash and dry the add-ins; trim, slice, pit, or cut them into chunks before placing them in two cups of alcohol. Let the spirits infuse in the refrigerator until the desired flavor is achieved, at least overnight and up to a month (remove the additions before they break down). Then sip straight up or mixed into a cocktail.

1. Chamomile Gin
Combine gin, 8 chamomile sprigs with flowers

2. Fennel Vodka
Combine vodka, 1/2 small fennel bulb, plus fennel fronds

3. Plum-Lemon Balm Brandy
Combine eau-de-vie de vin (unoaked brandy), 3 yellow plums, 2 lemon balm sprigs

4. Lemongrass-Peach Sake
Combine sake, 1 trimmed lemongrass stalk, 1 peach

5. Red-Plum Grappa
Combine grappa, 3 red plums

6. Lemon Verbena Vodka
Combine vodka, 2 long lemon verbena stems with leaves

7. Lemon Basil-Raspberry Brandy
Combine eau-de-vie de vin (unoaked brandy), 1 lemon basil sprig, 1/3 cup raspberries

8. Beet-Cucumber Vodka
Combine vodka, 1 small peeled beet, 3-inch piece cucumber

Summer Time Drinks Made Easy

We all love libations during a hot summer day and we all have our favorites. But what about at night? Do you have a favorite summer night drink?

Here are a two such deeee-lish cocktails for you and your friends.

The Ginger Randy for Two

Ingredients:

1 lime, cut into wedges
Ice cubes
2 shots vodka
160 ml all natural ginger ale

Method:

Divide the lime wedges between 2 old fashioned glasses. Smash the lime wedges to release the juices. Fill the glasses with ice cubes.

Pour the vodka then the ginger ale over the ice in the glasses, dividing equally. Stir to blend and serve.

Sultry Mykonos Bloody Mary.

Ingredients

4 Oz premium vodka
8 Oz tomato juice
1 tbs fresh lemon juice
1/2 Tsp white horseradish
1/2 Tsp Worcestershire
Dash of tabasco
Dash of Greek Kalamata olive juice
2 Greek Kalamata oives for skewer
2 pearl onions for skewer
1 pepperoncini for skewer
1 lime
Fresh pepper
Old Bay Seasoning

Steps

Coat rim of glass with lime juice.
Pour Old Bay Seasoning into a small
bowl and dip highball glass to coat its rim.
Fill a highball glass with
ice.
Place all ingredients in a large glass pitcher. Stir then pour
into your coated highball glass.
Garnish with skewer

Mmmmmm yum!

Bartending Schools: The Pretend Bartenders Biggest Scam

I've been to few events over the years where the bartenders and/or servers were less than thrilled to be there. They hum and haw and look at you with resentment for asking them for a cola or drink of water instead of a "real drink". Most batenders at establishments are guilty of this, not only event bartenders.

I know. I was that guy once or twice I hate to admit.

I was younger and cockier and didn't understand the basic principles of proper customer service. Back then I was too busy making $400 a night to care about "service" (although I was still pretty good at it!).

Amateurs straight out of bartending school don't have this problem. They are not fast or organized enough to make that kind of money, and too green to understand anything except how to make a Shama-lama-ding-dong Cocktail (that no one will ever know to order because it was created by some hot shot bartender in Memphis 55 years ago!).

They also have other problems such as not making eye contact, shaky hands, stupid grins, not knowing how to pour a beer without foaming the hell out of it, and never wiping the bar (the elbows of your favorite shirt will attest to that)

Of course, these "amateurs" will pretty much do anything to please the customer, and that is not always a good thing either.

It is like a dog that waits for you to throw a ball and drools all over your lap in the process. Not cool. It comes down to experience and knowing how to read your customers individually. You just can't treat everyone the same.

Rude Joe Rockhead drinking scotch at a wedding will not get the same treatment as sweet ol'Grandma Johnson at a wedding. Even if she is drinking scotch!

No, you must learn how to take control, if need be, and diffuse a situation tactfully. And it takes years to know the difference between too much and too little bravado.

Who do you fault for the lack of know how?

It definitely is not the fault of the kid who gave $500-$900 to attend some lame school.

It is the fault of the guy who thought that teaching a couple of drinks to him/her was good enough to pass as a bartender though.

They don't teach you how to be a bartender in Bartending School. They are too busy "teaching" you unnecessary and outdated drinks and forgot what it is really like behind a bar.

In the long run the rest of us suffer while we wait in line with soaked sleaves.

Talk About a Liquid Asset... Bud Light Lime!?

Boat party? Did someone say boat party?!

Pretty soon we will be sun drenched and riding the ocean currents around Howe Sound and up Indian Arm on a day long adventure. Only if you plan on visiting or live in the Vancouver area that is.

Playing safe is of course advised, so be sure to have a designated driver.

One of the favorite choices is undoubtably a Corona. But, have you tried a Bud Light Lime yet? Probably not since the release date is later this month. I have been fortunate enough to have had a taster at a private release last month.

Amazing is the word... simply amazing! Try them side by side and you won't ever touch a Corona again. Besides if you are the only one who enjoys it all the better. You know no one will steal one from you on the boat or at a party.

I know. But it's Bud Lt right?

That's all I'm gonna say for now.

Even a One Year Old Loves Liquid Assets.

Today we again worked for a wonderful client (3rd time with them so far) to celebrate their daughters 1st birthday. Every time we have worked for them it has been quite a festive and lively event and this was no different.

The organized a BollyWood style theme party. All the woman wore Saris and the men looked like the lead male star in an Indian music video. Very dapper.

The food was catered from an Indian restaurant, and all the house was covered with beautiful fabrics and colorful decor.

We set up the bar outside on the front lawn surrounded by tall tables and chairs with pink flowing see through table clothes, which worked beautifully with the sunshine and slight breeze.

What was needed for this event was a signature cocktail. This is what I came up with for the adults at little Veronica Rose's 1st Birthday Party.

The Veronica Rose

Pour 4 ounces Presecco Rose Sparkling Wine into a champagne flute

Add 1/2 ounce of Henrick's Gin

Place in six drops of Creme de Cassis

Garnish with a tiny blue wild flower

Enjoy a Kiwi Mango Mint During Spring Cleaning

This drink is screaming sunshine and freshness, making it perfect for spring and summer parties and patio brunches. The Kiwi Mango Mint is tall, light and refreshing and a nice fruity mix of kiwi (42 Below) and mango. Add to that the refreshing hint of mint and you have a fantastic drink. Using mango nectar creates a sweeter drink, but if only juice is available and you want the sweetness simply muddle some of the mint with a small amount of simple syrup. Even with the nectar, I found that releasing the essence of the mint into a dash of nectar via a short muddling session was worth the extra work.

Ingredients:

1 part 42 Below Kiwi Vodka
5 parts mango nectar or juice
8 mint leaves

Preparation:

Fill a highball glass with ice.
Add the mint leaves and vodka.
Top with nectar or juice.
Stir well.

Take a Sexy Trip To Europe This Spring

Spring is in the air and there are few better times to sit back, kick up your heals and sip your favorite libation.

Do your taste buds call for a gin and tonic? A rye and ginger? A lager or a stout? Nothing wrong with that. Nothing at all. It's what you've always known and you're OK with that.

Then there are those who's palettes are perhaps tantalized by a more flavorful concoction? Something out of the norm for North American folk?

Have you ever tried a

EUROPEAN SWINGER?

4 oz sauterne
1 oz dry vermouth
1/2 oz Chambord
3 oz club soda
3 blueberries for garnish

Pour wine, vermouth, and liqueur into a mixing glass. Add ice, stir to chill, and strain into a white wine glass. Top with club soda, stir gently, and garnish.

Some Summer Drinks for Fancy Occasions

KIR ROYALE

Ingredients

Kir Royales:

1/2 oz crème de cassis per glass
5-6 ounces sparkling white wine (Cava)
One piece of orange zest
A cluster of mini grapes or other fruit for garnish

Directions:

Kir Royales:

Pre-chill champagne flutes with ice cubes filling the glass. Empty before filling with cocktail.
Peel a strip off an orange (avoiding the pith), squeeze to allow the oils to rise to the surface and rim the glass with it . Then drop it in the bottom.
Pour the crème de cassis into glass and fill with bubbly (to come ¾ way up the glass). Garnish with fresh fruits. Cheers!

SNOW CRAB BLOODY CAESAR

Ingredients

Snow Crab Bloody Caesar:

2 wedges of lemon
Steak spice
Handful of ice
Salt and pepper
Dash Worchestershire sauce
Dash hot sauce
1 tsp fresh, grated horseradish
2 oz vodka
4 oz Clamato juice
1 celery stick
1 Snow Crab claw

Directions:

Snow Crab Bloody Caesar:

Rim your glass by running a lemon wedge around the edge, then dipping the rim into a small dish of the steak spice.
Put ice into a tall glass.
Add a dash of salt and pepper to the ice.
Add dashes of Worchestershire and hot sauce.
Peel and grate some fresh horseradish into the glass.
Add the vodka (or omit if you are making a non-alcoholic drink)
Top up with juice.
Garnish with a lemon wedge, celery stick and crab leg.

Liquid Assets Professional Bartending Service is looking forward to being part of many wonderful events in the coming year. Although we are involved with dozens of private affairs such as weddings, there are also many events that are open to the public.

On May 21 2009, Obakki, located at 44 Water St. is hosting a preview event for the Inaugural Unite With Art Auction and Gala on June 3rd 2009 at the Storyeum Museum, located at 142 Water St.. This event is to raise awareness and support for the children and mothers affected by HIV/AIDS in Africa.

May 9th is the Coquitlam Minor Lacrosse Association Fundraiser at 640 Poirier St. in Coquitlam. About 600 guests are expected. Do it for the kids.

On the 27th of June 2009 is an event that we cannot yet reveal because it is a secret. Rest assured Mr.Ziff will make sure it is spectacular none the less!

Then Soundwave is right around the corner on July 10th-12th 2009 in beautiful Ucluelet on Vancouver Island. If you have not been to this festival before you should this time around. We will be providing a juice bar since this is a alcohol free event.

Later in July, the 24th-26th to be exact, the Bass Coast Project in the amazing Sunshine Valley, Squamish. This festival is going to be locally driven with many different groups coming together to create a unique experience for party-goers. Sustainability is the theme of this event.

Of course, next year Vancouver is hosting the 2010 Winter Olympic Games. We will be part of no less than 15 seperate events at several different venues in and around Vancouver.

We hope to see you out at some, if not all of these events.

The UBC Boathouse is a Dream Location

Last night Liquid Assets had the pleasure of being part of a wedding at the UBC Boathouse in Richmond. If you haven't been to this venue I suggest you find a friend who is getting married and suggest it to them. Located out on the water with breathtaking views of the mountains and channel water ways, it is surrounded by industry so as not to be disturbed.

The guests were all so lovely and warm and the ceremony was an absolute pleasure to behold.

The catering was supplied by Izumiya in Richmond. A delicious fusion of Japanese and Chinese dishes that made your taste buds soar.

The wedding planner Jozen Deguangco, had taken care of every detail wonderfully and we can't wait to work with her and her husband again.

Liquid Assets 'Unites With Art' in 2009

Unite with Art is a series of art auctions to benefit UNICEF’s Unite for Children, Unite against AIDScampaign. The inaugural Unite with Art Auction and Gala was held on June 21, 2008 in Vancouver and raised over $276,000 for the campaign.

On June 3rd 2009 Liquid Assets is proud to again be part of this years gala event, being held at the former Storyeum Museum located at 142 Water St. in the Gastown area of Vancouver. A pre-event will be held at OBAKKI, located at 44 Water St. We will be there as well as we support the children and mothers affected by HIV/AIDS, and to the eradication of this pandemic.

Please come and give your support to such a worthy cause.

Obakki had a party at it's Water St. location on Thursday April 23rd 2009. The night was a complete success with the lovely Amber and myself behind the bar. We were shaking Lychee Martinis made from Skyy Vodka, opening Heineken's and pouring South African cabernet sauvignon and sauvignon blanc.

On the decks was none other than the legendary DJ Dickie-Doo, one of the best damn DJ's there are in this city hands down.

Many a "scenester" graced the event looking the part of a New York fashion week party.

What a great event! Thank you CJ!

Vodka Anyone?

Vodka may not seem the most obviously useful ingredient in the cocktail cupboard, in the sense that it is typically just a neutral, coulourless spirit that at most can only add a further shot of alcohol to a mixed drink. However, many of the modern cocktails are based on the principle of blending a range of different, often exotic fruit flavours over an alcohol base that doesn’t interfere with the taste of them. If there are surprisingly few vodka cocktails from the classic era, that is because vodka wasn’t then generally commercially available.

Grape Vodka Froth

Ingredients

1 1/2 oz.	Vodka
1 oz.	Grape Juice
1 oz.	Lemon Juice
1	Egg White

Directions:

Shake all ingredients with ice, strain into an old-fashioned glass over ice cubes, and serve.

Cocktail

Emerald Vodka Martini

Ingredients

1 1/2 oz	Vodka
1/2 oz	Dry Vermouth
1/8 oz	Chartreuse
	Twist of Lemon

Directions:	Stir with cracked ice in a shaker and pour into a chilled cocktail glass. Twist a lemon zest over the drink and float the zest on top.

Today we received a call to provide service for a massive Olympic venue. The details must remain secret for the time being. This is not the only involvement that Liquid Assets Professional Bartending Services has with the Vancouver 2010 Olympics. We have already officially booked no less than 23 seperate events between Feb 1st - March 28 2010. One event will be working with brandeLIVE at the Rocky Mountaineer Station for Alberta House. This is a huge venue with 50 foot ceilings located on Terminal Way in Vancouver. We will need 75-100 staff during this time.
